About location

River Farm is a national showcase for gardening practices and serves as the headquarters of the American Horticultural Society. Once part of George Washington’s farmland, this 25-acre historic site in Alexandria, Virginia, overlooks the Potomac River and features a blend of formal and naturalistic gardens, including a four-acre meadow, orchard, wildlife garden, and an award-winning children’s garden. Feel free to wander and enjoy. There’ll be games (soccer, corn hole, etc.), so have some fun.

As for lodging, we recommend staying in or close to Old Town Alexandria, which is six miles from River Farm. If you’re flying in, DCA would be your best bet. It’s four miles from Old Town.

About schedule

3:00 p.m. - Please arrive during the three o’clock hour. Parking is available on site. It is only a short walk to ceremony and reception locations.

4:30 p.m. - The ceremony will begin around this time. It’ll be quick. Afterward, allow some time for family photos. Enjoy the gardens. Have a beverage. Play a game.

5:00 p.m. - Reception and refreshments begin. Eat, drink, and be merry. Music, dancing, Hula, celebration, and memories made.

9:00 p.m - Time to wrap it up. Centerpieces are for our family and guests. If they’re all taken and you’d really love to have one for your home or office, terrariums are made to order and our gift to you. Drop your info with a member of the bridal party and give us a few weeks.

About attire

This is a wedding - but it’s a party. The point is to get Chris & Chris married (finally) and then, just as importantly, to celebrate the occasion by having fun together. So, dress for that. No need for suits. Come dressed for a garden party or luau.

About gifts

Gifts are not necessary. However, if you’d like to make a donation toward the honeymoon or our home improvements fund, we would be so grateful.
